The Zachary Hebda Foundation board has given considerable consideration regarding the 2022 Zachary Hebda Foundation Gala. We have come to the difficult decision that the Gala slated for October 1, 2022, will be postponed.
The reason for the postponement is the lack of participation that is multifold. Many previous participants have declined due to schedule conflicts or the COVID protocols.
The COVID-19 precautions are based on consultation with Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology. The intent wasn’t to exclude anyone; the restrictions were implemented because we have/would have had an ambassador from Johns Hopkins that is in treatment and doctors/staff from Hopkins that have direct patient contact with multiple patients in treatment. Our hope for the future is that with more time passing there will be new protocols in place to allow for all to have better access for us all to be together again.
We’re going to rethink our model and do something in the spring. Will be in touch with details. We cannot express how much we appreciate your long-term support for the Zachary Hebda Foundation. We have made incredible progress in childhood cancer treatment
Thank you for all your support,
Joe
EVENT HISTORY
The annual Zachary Hebda Foundation Gala is an elegant dinner evening featuring a silent auction, stories from those helped by our foundation, and time spent with inspiring Foundation benefactors and beneficiaries. It’s a time for all that fight for the end of childhood cancer to gather, celebrating our successes and recommitting to our mission.
In 2004 the Foundation held its first Gala on the University of Maryland campus. It was a huge success—over the years we have outgrown two gala locations, and we look forward to the continued growth of this anticipated event.
COVID has made charity events around the globe challenging to plan – we ask your understanding as we follow strict CDC recommendations for our guests.
VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
We require that all attendees be fully vaccinated and up to date with the COVID-19 vaccination. A person is considered fully vaccinated and up to date if they have received all recommended doses in the primary series and one booster vaccination when eligible. Please refer to the CDC guidelines for the current recommendations depending on your age and health status. www.cdc.gov.
To expedite your Registration at the Zachary Hebda Foundation Gala, please email your vaccination card to zacksrun@hotmail.com by September 26th. Otherwise, you will need to show your vaccination card prior to entering the Gala and checking in at Registration.
We are taking these precautions out of respect for attendees who are undergoing treatments for cancer and the medical staff who treat patients with compromised immune system due to cancer treatments.
On the day of the Zachary Hebda Foundation Gala (10/1/22), we encourage all attendees to take an at-home COVID-19 Test. In consideration of our guests, we kindly ask that anyone not feeling well or testing positive for COVID-19 please stay home.
Thank you!
All gala proceeds from this event directly support research conducted at Johns Hopkins, funding clinical trials that have successfully opened new treatment protocols for children with cancer. We are excited about future research and look forward to your continued support. If you’re interested in donating to the silent auction, please contact Joy Neal at joyneal@comcast.net.
Thank you to our event sponsors. We could not hold this event without their support. If you are interested in sponsoring this important event, please contact Joy Neal at joyneal@comcast.net.
